I took 10 days vacation from work and this is how I spend my time.
First of all, I must say, that working in the tech industry is truly amazing and fun. I am really grateful and fortunate for being part of this huge phenomenon. But, like every other job, it’s sometimes stressful. Being in front of a computer all day, trying to solve a given problem, exhausts your mind. What I am saying is that you have to find a way to recharge and clear your mind or else you’ll experience, what is called, a job burnout.
The only way I could truly recharge is by being around nature. It’s amazing how fast this fills up my batteries. You just sit there and enjoy the divine. There’s no better meditation than this.
For example, this is where I was yesterday, with my nephew and my sister – a waterfall, called Hotnitsa. A true piece of heaven that I love visiting during the summer.
I find inner peace in places like this since it helps me clear my mind and refresh with ease. I then start exercising, by thinking about the future and how I want it to turn out. In my mind I create my own future, I design it and I implement it. I only let positive thoughts inside my head, nothing negative allowed.
You’ll be surprised how refreshed and how positive you feel after just a few minutes of doing this exercise.
Spending time in the wild is great, but we must get back to reality at some point and feed our mind. You should always try to learn new things.
I am currently refreshing some of my JavaScript knowledge using Andrew Mead’s course. My goal is to create a few apps after I finish it. I already know JS, since I use it at work and on personal projects at home, but I learned a lot I didn’t know using this course. As we all know, you can’t be a aware of everything. The information out there is infinite, I mean, we are literally drowning in information. So how can you possibly absorb infinite amount of information, given the size of your brain? If you think the opposite, if you think that you’re awesome and you know it all, then you’re finished. Stay hungry. Stay foolish.
Now, as I am writing these final lines, I am getting this book from my shelve. It’s finally time to give it a go, since I read a lot of good things about it on Goodreads.
That’s it for now, have a great one!
