Just went back from the cinema and I must say that ‘the end’ of the franchise was epic. However, given the success of the franchise I won’t be surprised if they continue delivering. After all, who kills something that profitable? According to IMDB the budget for this one was mind blowing – $400 000 000. Yup, $400 million.
Given that the current worldwide gross is more than $650 million I am sure they will top the $1 billion very soon. Frankly, I’d be surprised if they don’t make it to top 3 in the highest grossing films of all time.
To be honest, I only spend time at the cinema watching movies like this one. Movies full of high quality CGI. It’s not that I don’t appreciate a good story, but I prefer the mind blowing effects. As someone fascinated by tech I am always curious about how far the industry went in producing these blockbusters. After all, movies like this one are true barometer of the industry’s current level of development.
All in all it’s been 3 hours well spent. If you love high quality CGI and VFX, I suggest you go see it. You won’t be disappointed.
